Can't say I've seen anything like this before. Taken by Sharon earlier in the year and just retreived from the point-and-shoot.

West Country Wanderings

A mixed bag this year given the unseasonal mix of weather in the South West this last two weeks. Who knows if the Hooded Merganser is of wild origin ?

And Then There Was One

The lone female but no sign of this year's two young that were in the vicinity on Friday. The male bird unfortunately died in a collision with a vehicle but this bird has still been able to fledge two young despite a real dearth of prey this season. What with another wet summer and a poor year for voles, I would be surprised if many young survive this year.

Summer Shrike @ Sea Palling

Given away by the Whitethroats who constantly scolded this smart Red-backed Shrike that seems content this summer with it's surroundings at Sea Palling.

Kingfisher - Willington

With the high water levels on the river, Kingfishers have been harder to find than most years. Finding this one fishing near the bank this evening was nice.

Fledged Today

First day out the nest with younger siblings several days behind.
