New Jersey again

a selection of birds and other wildlife seen around the confines of my hotel in Princeton NJ.  Shame I missed migration but plenty of things to see all the same.

Chance Encounter

A complete chance encounter whilst driving to Dereham on Monday to have my camera fixed at Norfolk Camera.
I'd stopped by the roadside to take a call and immediately saw two birds moving in an area of game strip, only for one to settle down as likely to be at the nest.  A quick fumble with the digiscope and V1 bagged me a distant record shot at a location I'd probably never find again if I tried!
Schedule 1 breeding birds aren't things I try and find but in this case, the birds found me!

Is Spring Extinct?

Well if you want to see hirundines this spring then I guess you need to be inventive.  This one seemed quite settled at the Natural History Museum on Monday.

There is an exhibition on Extinction currently showing - all a bit Jurassic Park and likely to engender those who wont bother to much if we lose the odd species knowing we can re-engineer them at some point in the future.  I wonder where they will put them and what they might feed on?  And what species would you want to bring back?

Be nice if they can grow a few of these though?  CAT F?
